In 2005, and early on in our walk with Jesus, we attended a church that had weekly Bible Fellowships after services each Sunday, of which we were a part, and as time went by, relationships were formed, and we enjoyed a time together with a small group of friends each year just before Christmas (as many were traveling out of town during the holiday) and we gathered to share food, games, to play a few games, to worship together, and basically just to spend time together.
Shortly thereafter, there were some divisions in that church which separated many people, and after 2 years, we decided that God would have us to move on, and the journey of God's Garage really began for us.
In those first few days, as the flock of that building scattered, we were heart broken over what we were seeing, and as you might imagine, confused, hurt, and we found ourselves wondering what to do. Especially considering, as I said before, we were just babes in our faith.
Being used to this Christmas gathering, we asked God what to do, and what He spoke to us was one of the most beautiful things ever heard. He said to us that we were to remain steadfast in our faith, and to continue doing what we had been doing, and to gather together, rejoicing for our Savior, His Son, Jesus was born to us.
So. We made calls, and sent out emails in 2006 to those who had been gathering together and had been scattered, inviting them to gather with us (as we had been) for a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus, together, as a family. Surprisingly, we saw God open doors that we could have never imagined, and the HOA even donated the use of the Community Clubhouse here in South Harbor Village where we live, and a beautiful tradition began!
Over 30 people gathered for that 1st Annual Christmas Celebration, and as we head into our 7th year of holding this celebration, we have been amazed by our God, Who has made a way for this gathering, and has done some remarkable things over the past 7 years, not only during this gathering, but all along the way, as relationships have been strengthened, new ones have been formed, and He has gotten the glory for it all.
The Christmas Celebration has since been held in various venues, but has always remained true to the Word of God, and has fostered authentic Christian community, and brought lives together in lasting ways.
We invite you to join us for this Celebration, and we would love to get to know you more as days go by, so be sure to give us a call, (910)368-5520, email us, ([email protected]), or look us up on Facebook where you can follow along, and stay up to date on all that goes on in, around, and through the Village Garage.
Welcome to the Journey!
